Introductory letter from 100W President, Pam Klaus

Dear 100 Women Supporter,

Fall is upon us, but as the weather cools off, things start to heat up for the 100 Women Charitable Foundation. This month, our 3 committees begin to read and evaluate the 36 grant applications that we received over the summer. By the end of November, they will have chosen the six worthy organizations which will compete for your votes at the dinner on March 2nd.

I would like to introduce myself and share some recent leadership updates with you. My name is Pam Klaus, and I am honored to take over as the President of our foundation. I have been involved with the organization for eight years, and have served on five different grant committees. I have some very big shoes to fill as Kathy Hawes transitions out of this role. Kathy has served as president for the past three  years, and helped to give away over $500,000 to 17 worthy causes.  During her tenure, we also saw numerous updates and improvements to the website, the application process and with our social media presence. Thank you, Kathy, for all of your dedication to the 100 Women Charitable Foundation!

I would also like to extend my gratitude to two other board members who have recently moved on; Lisa Harmon and Karen Quaglia. Lisa served as the social media chair and dinner coordinator, and Karen worked on membership. These ladies have been members for many years, and continue to actively support the organization. To fill those vacancies, I’d like to welcome Kathy Franceschini who is working on membership and Cori Mehring who is spearheading our social media outreach.

I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible over the next few months, and encourage you to invite your friends and families to join our ranks. As the cost of living continues to increase in this area, so does the cost of running nonprofit organizations. The need for our help is greater than ever!!

With warm regards,

Pam Klaus

Got 100 Minutes?

Volunteer Opportunity at My New Red Shoes

When: Wednesday July 12 from 1 to 4pm

Where: 616 Los Ninos Way in Los Altos, home of Vickie Fujioka

What to bring: A pair of new shoes for child/youth*

$40 for clothing gift card to be purchased by My New Red Shoes

With the goal of building impact through customized, compelling and meaningful volunteer opportunities, 100 Women is offering a 100 Minutes opportunity to help My New Red Shoes provide back to school shoes for kids in our community. This year we are “adopting” LifeMoves Opportunity Services Center and be responsible for supplying the components for all of the children in that agency.

We will also have an opportunity to distribute the gift bags to the children and youth in person, depending on any restrictions from the agency.

What we will do:  Put the shoes and gift card in a sewn gift bag (provided) and decorate a back to school note to each child.

*Please refer to the shoe guideline.

RSVP to Jeanne Chan at jamcake53@comcast.net.  She will match you with a needy child and send the age, gender and shoe size(s) of the child/children needed.
