The Power of One, Together

Large gifts may be in our hearts but beyond our individual means. By giving collectively, we make big grants possible. That is the whole trick, and it works.

  1. Join

Give any time during the year. The average gift is $250, and every member gets the same vote.

  2. Learn

Meet the local nonprofits working on health, family, and education right here at home.

  3. Vote

Choose the grant finalists, then cast your vote at the Annual Membership Dinner & Grant Vote in March.

  4. Give Together

Watch your gift join hundreds of others and land where it can make a real difference.

Why Members Love It

The Bay Area is a wonderful place to live, and still too many children and families struggle with poverty, the high cost of health care, mental health, and unequal access to a quality education. As a member, you are:

  • Joining like-minded friends to multiply the impact of your gift
  • Helping women, families, and individuals in need across Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties
  • Learning about worthy causes in our own community
  • Entitled to recommend local nonprofits to apply for a grant
  • Eligible to serve on a grant evaluation committee

What Do Members Give?

The average member gives $250, and it’s a lovely place to start. Give what feels right for you; every member gets the same vote. Join any time between January 1 and December 31 and you’re a voting member for that year. Renew by December 31 to vote in March.

Choose Your Level of Involvement

Some members pay early in the year and show up in March to vote. Others recommend nonprofits, help with technology, or host a gathering to welcome new members. Our board volunteers keep the foundation growing and organized. Any of these is a perfectly good way to be a member.

Grant Evaluation Committees

Members read and evaluate grant proposals in three focus areas. Each committee member reads 10 to 15 applications, attends three required meetings, does some friendly detective work (site visits and due diligence), and recommends two finalists.

Health & Wellness

Initiatives that improve the mental and physical well-being of people in our community.

Family

Initiatives that strengthen and enhance the lives of children and families.

Education

Initiatives that further the educational process or improve access to education for children and adults.

Friends of 100 Women

People often ask, “If 100% of member donations go to local nonprofits, how do you keep the lights on?” Good question. Individuals and local businesses, our Friends, underwrite our overhead with gifts or in-kind support for printing, postage, website costs, and more.

Friends contributions are also 100% tax-deductible, and we are very grateful for every one.

Ready When You Are

Join any time, or renew for the year ahead. We will save you a seat.
